Cité de la mode et du design
A full subsidiary of the Caisse des Dépôts, Les Docks – Cité de la Mode et du Design is a symbol of a certain forward-looking, urban way of life that inspires. The Cité de la Mode et du Design explores emerging creative expression by celebrating artists and designers from all over the world. At the Cité, anything is possible.
Its programming sets the pace for what’s on in Paris. From the fun, interactive PLAY! Exhibition last summer, to now! le Off, presenting emerging design talents during Paris Design Week, and from fashion (Spinexpo) and lifestyle exhibitions, such as The Bike Shed, to fashion showrooms from the biggest fashion houses and conferences, seminars, and private parties, this venue brings together eclectic worlds that cross paths, meet, and make connections.
With its bold architecture by JAKOB + MACFARLANE, and, most notably, its green “plug-over” that hangs over the Seine, the Cité infuses historical Paris with fresh energy, offering a multitude of experiences. A true destination, located at the heart of the 13th arrondissement, the Cité de la Mode et du Design hosts seve- ral residents year-round: Art Ludique-Le Musée, the temple of Entertainment, the Institut Français de la Mode, hot dog restaurant DAD and clubs/restaurants Communion, Wanderlust, Nuits Fauves, Café Oz Rooftop, and Garage.
The team at the Cité de la Mode et du Design envisions and produces a creative schedule of events built around innovation, culture, and style. Exhibitions, installations, and performances are created to help you discover talent: artists, designers, fashion designers, photographers, architects, graphic artists, and landscape designers. Each year is structured around three major axes:
In the springtime, it’s about photography
For summer, a themed, participatory, interactive exhibition
And in winter, a voyage of discovery of a country through its culture.
Throughout the year, botanical installations are in bloom at the Cité, both as part of the exhibitions presented, or on their own.
